According to the Wellness Councils of America:
 | Coors Brewing Co. reported a Return on Investment of
$6.15 for every dollar spent on its full-service wellness program in 1990.
|
 | Union Pacific Railroad, while spending less than $50 per
employee, achieved a net savings of $1.26 million dollars. |
These results, and many others like them, have been traced to the
following three major factors:
- A reduction in health care costs: More than 50% of the after-tax profit
of American companies is spent on employee medical care. Evidence is overwhelming in
proving that corporate-sponsored wellness programs reduce the use of company-funded health
care services. Blue Cross of CA indicated that a low-cost, mail-delivered health promotion
program for California public employees saved $8 million in claim costs over a 12 month
period for 54,902 employees. American Journal of Health Promotion
- Increased employee productivity: a NASA study reported a 12.5% increase
in productivity of exercisers vs. non-exercisers, who also lost 50% of their efficiency
over the final 2 hours of the day. In a separate 9 month study of decision-making
abilities, exercisers were 70% better than non-exercisers. The Association for
Fitness in Business
- Reduced Absenteeism: The Dupont Co. reported a decrease in absenteeism
of 14% from employees who participated in a company-sponsored wellness program. On
average, these employees called in sick 5 fewer days per year. The Journal of
Occupational and Environmental Medicine
In addition, Corporate-fit.com increases adherence to these exercise
programs by involving the husbands, wives, and children of the employees, at NO extra cost
to the employer!
